ZHS ELA Dept. Grammar Mission Statement
We want all students to be the most effective communicators they can be. To this end, we will provide a common, deliberate instruction of grammar that will empower students to:
- Use grammar and writing together, as interdependent skills, since grammar is a means to an end, not the end itself
- Know the effects of grammar choices on one's ability to express thoughts
- Have knowledgable terms to describe strong writing and grammatical choices
- Make grammatical choices that will lead to success on future assessments and college readiness
- Appreciate the linguistic structure and heritage of our language
- Integrate grammar, writing, and reading skills
- Graduate meeting CCSS language requisites
